The Office of Summer Sessions is recruiting graduate students to teach INT 93LS courses in Summer 2024 during a 4-week session from July 1-26. Summer Research Academies (SRA) is a pre-college program that provides advanced high school students (residential and commuter) an introduction to the research enterprise through project-based, directed research in various fields. Join the UCSB Library for a workshop on November 1 all about patents. UCSB librarians will provide a presentation on patents geared to graduate students, although everyone is welcome. Learn more about the valuable legal, business, and technical information patents provide, how to find them using open and proprietary databases, and what UCSB inventors need to know about applying for patents.

Applications are currently being accepted for a Professional development for Emerging Education Researchers (PEER) field school in Chicago, December 14-17. This intensive in-person PEER field schools gives opportunities for faculty, postdocs, and graduate students in STEM disciplines to develop their own educational research practice. Scholarships are available. Apply by October 13.

The organizing committee is seeking nominations for students to be considered for the 22nd annual St. Jude Children's Research Hospital National Graduate Student Symposium (NGSS) and the 9th annual Future Fellow Research Conference (FFRC). The NGSS and FFRC are all-expenses-paid symposia to which top Ph.D. students from around the country are invited to participate. Faculty nominations are due by October 16.

South Orange County Community College District's (SOCCCD) Faculty Internship Program, known as Building Leadership Opportunities through Outstanding Mentorship (B.L.O.O.M.), is now accepting applications for its Spring 2024 program. The intent of the B.L.O.O.M. program is to increase the diversity pipeline of future community college faculty within SOCCCD and/or other California Community Colleges. Appliations due October 16.

Applications are now open for the Supporting Outstanding Academic Research (SOAR) Awards. The selection committee is soliciting applications from post-doctoral researchers and graduating PhD students in Psychology, Neuroscience, Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, or related fields with identities or perspectives under-represented in science and/or research interests that foster inclusivity in behavioral and brain sciences. Apply by October 25.

The application for the 2024 Christine Mirzayan Science and Technology Policy Graduate Fellowship Program is now open. This program brings graduate students and early-career professionals to the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. The 2024 Fellowship will run from March 4-May 24, 2024. Applications are due October 16, 2023.
