South Orange County Community College District's (SOCCCD) Faculty Internship Program, known as Building Leadership Opportunities through Outstanding Mentorship (B.L.O.O.M.), is now accepting applications for its Spring 2024 program. Program organizers encourage graduate students or anyone interested in teaching at the community college level to apply.

The team at SOCCCD strives to provide a welcoming and inclusive environment. As part of this commitment, they aim to enhance the diversity of staff and faculty to better represent the student population. With that in mind, they are in the second year of offering B.L.O.O.M., a program designed for interns aspiring to teach at the community college level. B.L.O.O.M. interns will be paired with mentors who provide an immersive experience related to developing curricula, engaging students, and establishing inclusive learning environments. The intent of the B.L.O.O.M. program is to increase the diversity pipeline of future community college faculty within SOCCCD and/or other California Community Colleges.

Mentors will also offer insight into faculty service, professional development, and training opportunities outside the classroom. As an added benefit, interns will receive a $1,200 stipend.
