The Fulbright U.S. Student Program is a highly competitive international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government and is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. In the 2021-22 award cycle, 17 students applied from UCSB, 6 were selected as finalists, 1 was selected as an alternate, and 7 were selected as semi-finalists. Congratulations to these outstanding students!

As part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, the Graduate Division will provide 50 summer stipends of $7,000 to doctoral students whose research and progress toward the completion of their degrees were severely impacted by the global pandemic. You are eligible for this program if you are currently registered in a UCSB doctoral program and experienced demonstrable delays in research and/or academic progress due to the global pandemic. Priority will be given to advanced doctoral students. Submit an application by Friday, July 9 to be considered!

Congratulations to MacKenzie Wade (Anthropology) and Mariah Miller (Global Studies), winners of the Crossroads 2.0 Course Proposal competition. Along with an hourly salary and partial fee support, this position provides the opportunity to gain valuable experience working in academic administration while supporting fellow graduate students. The UCSB Graduate Division is currently accepting applications for its Funding Peer Advisor position. Along with an hourly salary and partial fee support (equivalent to 25% TA fee support), this position provides the opportunity to gain valuable experience working in academic administration while supporting fellow graduate students. The Graduate Division would like to congratulate Sam del Castillo on matching at the California State University Long Beach Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)! Sam will be completing their predoctoral internship with CSU Long Beach's CAPS, where they will be working with students and supporting their mental health. They will also continue their dissertation work on parental support of transgender Latinx youth, as well as other projects on decolonizing psychology and teaching and training.
