UC Santa Barbara has recently been recognized by the U.S. Department of State for its contributions to two different scholarship programs: The Fulbright Program and the Gilman International Scholar Program. Next in our 2021 Incoming Grad Series is Daniela Sarmiento Hernandez, an incoming Ph.D. student in Counseling, Clinical, & School Psychology from Ecuador. She tells us about her research interests in risk and resilience for vulnerable populations, how growing up in Ecuador sparked an interest in mental health, and why her friends consider her a "celebrity magnet!"

The Graduate Division is pleased to circulate a dedicated call for proposals to connect UCSB graduate-program alumni with current students about the job market, skills needed to advance successful careers, and the alumna/us experience in chosen career pathways. There is no set deadline, but requests should be made well in advance of the scheduled event. The maximum allocation is $400 for virtual events or $800 for in-person events. Funding for annual career events is capped at $200 and includes the expectation of cost-share from departments or divisions.
