The Office of Summer Sessions is recruiting graduate students to teach INT 93LS courses in Summer 2024 during a 4-week session from July 1-26. Summer Research Academies (SRA) is a pre-college program that provides advanced high school students (residential and commuter) an introduction to the research enterprise through project-based, directed research in various fields. The Graduate Student Peers and Instructional Development are collaborating to host an Academic Job Market Pop-In space on Tuesday, October 17 from 2-3:30pm. Graduate students working on their academic job applications are invited to bring questions, concerns, or work in progress. Drinks and light snacks provided!

Join the UCSB Library for a workshop on November 1 all about patents. UCSB librarians will provide a presentation on patents geared to graduate students, although everyone is welcome. Learn more about the valuable legal, business, and technical information patents provide, how to find them using open and proprietary databases, and what UCSB inventors need to know about applying for patents.

Registration is now open for the Central Coast Sustainability Summit, which will run from 8am-5pm on October 18 in UCSB's Corwin Pavilion. At this year’s summit, keynote speakers will inspire agencies and thought leaders to create a shared vision and accountability for sustainability efforts in California’s central coast. The theme for this year’s summit is Decarbonizing to meet the Climate Challenge.

Applications are currently being accepted for a Professional development for Emerging Education Researchers (PEER) field school in Chicago, December 14-17. This intensive in-person PEER field schools gives opportunities for faculty, postdocs, and graduate students in STEM disciplines to develop their own educational research practice. Scholarships are available. Apply by October 13.
