PLEASE NOTE: The 2020 NSF GRFP Success Series is now over. Stay tuned to the GradPost for announcements on the next series coming in Summer 2021.

The National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) Success Series is here to support ALL students eligible to apply. Through five sessions, we will:

  1. Cover the basics of applying to the GRFP by outlining eligibility criteria and needed materials as well as answer all questions about the application process (What is the GRFP? An Info Session);

  2. Break down the two statements required for the GRFP and provide writing tips for how to craft a winning statement (How to Write Your GRFP Statements);

  3. Host a panel of faculty who evaluate GRFP applications so that you know what evaluators look for in a winning application (Q&A Panel with GRFP Faculty Evaluators);

  4. Read through sample winning statements to highlight what a successful statement looks like (Sample Statements Writing Workshop); and

  5. Present a panel of current GRFP recipients so that they can share their own experiences and you can ask them question (Q&A Panel with GRFP Recipients).

These five sessions are open to both undergraduate and graduate students, students in STEM and social sciences (including education research on science learning). Students who are not applying this upcoming year but may in the future are also encouraged to attend so that they have ample time to prepare a strong application in subsequent years.
