OVERVIEW
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Tax Group is a non-profit organization that offers free tax preparation to people who make $67,000 or less and need assistance in preparing their tax returns. Their IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation to qualified individuals and families in local communities.

UCSB VITA
UCSB VITA began as a group of UCSB students who saw how quickly the program had developed in other schools, and decided to start a chapter in 2011. UCSB VITA has had a partnership with United Way of Santa Barbara since 2012. UCSB VITA has grown from its initial 15 members to over 100 volunteers each year.
