Applications are now open for the Singh Fellowship, which provides $30,000 to graduate students of Indian or Pakistani descent at the University of California who meet the Fellowship's criteria. Apply by May 2. Read on for more details!
In 1988 Mr. Karam Singh Maughan provided an endowment to support graduate fellowships for students of Indian or Pakistani descent studying at the University of California. The Singh Fellowship is named after Guru Gobind Singh, a Sikh religious leader, and provides $30,000 for graduate study. It is open to students who meet the following criteria:
- Graduated from an Indian or Pakistani university in the area designated on the below map
- Are committed to returning to their country of origin after receiving their degree
- Have not previously engaged in graduate study at any other institution of higher learning in the United States
Students at any stage of graduate study may be nominated, but preference will be given to those who already hold master's degrees, have reached the dissertation stage of their studies, and who have exhausted other sources of financial support. The award will be made based on the strength of a student's academic record and supporting documents.
To apply, email up to three letters of reference (one from a faculty sponsor), university transcripts, a statement about whether or not you have advanced to candidacy and your proposed degree completion date, a statement about how you propose to use your graduate education in your home country, and any other supporting documents you would like to include to vpdgs@ucsc.edu
