Eddleman Center for Quantum Innovation (ECQI) at UCSB is excited to announce the new Art of Quantum competition!

The ECQI recognizes the value of engaging the general public in learning about quantum technologies such as quantum information processing, quantum sensing, quantum simulation, quantum communication, and quantum networking. To make these quantum technologies more accessible, visible, and intriguing for all, the ECQI community created the Art of Quantum.

This competition invites quantum scientists and engineers in the United States to share the beauty they see in quantum research, the creativity that goes into experiments, and the emotions of discovery. Through art images and captions, it is their hope that viewers are initially visually drawn in, but are then motivated to stay and learn about fundamental physics concepts and exciting future technologies that will shape the world. Details can be found here.

Submission due date: July 25, 2021

Awards Announced: August 13, 2021

To prepare for the competition, attend the Caption Writing Workshop on Thursday, July 15 from 4:00-5:00pm.

The Caption Writing workshop will help you craft a caption that clearly shares the importance of your artwork. Amanda Stansell (Lecturer, UCSB Writing Program) will use the Art of Quantum submission framework to provide tips for writing strong captions that communicate your science. Please bring any 'work in progress" images and/or text. Register here to receive the Zoom Link.
