Looking to find community on campus? The Graduate Student Organization Series features profiles of social, professional, and affinity groups for graduate students.

This article features WiSE: Womxn in Science and Engineering.

Womxn in Science & Engineering (WiSE) is a graduate student led, non-profit UCSB campus organization founded in 2001. WiSE aims to intersectionally promote equal opportunity and inclusion for all members of our campus community, support the scientific and career advancement of traditionally underserved people in academia, and create community for women and girls in science and engineering fields. WiSE encourages the participation of all STEM undergraduates, graduates, researchers, faculty, and professionals in the Santa Barbara area.

WiSE has regular coffee hours where members can connect with each other. They host occasional career talks with UCSB alumni, quarterly trivia nights on zoom, and a mentorship program for graduate and undergraduate students. WiSE is also excited about future outreach events with local middle and high school students once everyone is able to meet in person again

To get more involved with WiSE, send them a note at and sign-up for their emails and group Slack channel:
