“The Healing Center aims to provide a safe, culturally responsive space for Black residents to get mental health support, and for that support to be provided by Black therapists who have a keen understanding of the ways anti-Black racism operates in US society.”⁣ - Dr. Alison Cerezo

The Healing Center is a new specialty clinic of the Hosford Clinic that provides psychological services to Black and African American clients of all ages. In addition to general stressors and life issues, the Healing Center acknowledges the effects of racial trauma, marginalization, and injustice on social and health disparities among Black communities.

The Healing Center serves the general public as well as undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff from our local universities/colleges. At the Healing Center, you can seek short, medium, or long-term services depending on your need. Appointments are not limited and you can continue to access the clinic even after you graduate.

Who Are the Therapists at the Healing Center?

All services at the Healing Center are provided by Black therapists who have an interest in addressing the negative toll of anti-Black racism on Black residents in our local community.⁣ The Healing Center at the Hosford Clinic is a training site for students in the Department of Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology (CCSP) of UCSB and as a clinical facility for the faculty and students of the CCSP Department.

You can hear directly from the therapists of the Healing Center in this Instagram post.

How Much Does an Appointment Cost?

Services are on a sliding fee schedule of $25 to $100/session. UCSB and SBCC students receive services at our lowest community fee of $25/session. Due to the economic impacts of Covid-19 all clients may apply for further fee reductions if needed.

How Can I Make an Appointment with the Healing Center?

Those looking to learn more about, or receive services from, the Healing Center—named to reflect its connection to Healing Justice Santa Barbara—should email the clinic at hosford@ucsb.edu.
