The Blum Center will be hosting a virtual Pop-Up Discussion centered on prison abolition on Thursday, Nov. 18th at 5PM, a day before abolitionist scholar Dr. Ruth Wilson Gilmore gives a lecture with the Interdisciplinary Humanities Center (IHC).

The discussion will explore the exploitative nature of our current prison systems, the modern day prison abolition movement, and ways to shift our collective understanding of justice and punishment. The talk will feature local leaders, including the co-founder and youth mentors from Freedom 4 Youth-a local social justice organization that empowers youth in the juvenile justice system-and Charmaine Chua, a Global Studies faculty member, and scholar/activist heavily involved with the UC Cops off Campus movement.
