UCSB graduate students, postdocs, and recent alumni can now register for Beyond Academia 2022 panels and workshops on Shoreline! This week-long conference will run from April 11-16.
The Beyond Academia conference, organized by a team of UCSB grads, provides opportunities for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars to learn about career options alongside and outside of academia. The goal of the event is to help attendees develop an action plan that will prepare them for the career of their choice.
The topics of the "Careers in..." panel sessions range from Nonprofits to Startups, from R&D to Government and Public Policy. There are also special workshops on important issues like negotiation, balancing your education and career goals, and using your transferable skills. The 2022 conference features a Keynote by Dr. Fatimah Williams, CEO of Beyond the Tenure Track, and an Endnote by former NASA astronaut and International Space Station commander Dr. Leroy Chiao.
This year, for the first time, UCSB Beyond Academia is excited to be supported by two corporate sponsors. BD Biosciences and Microsoft have both generously provided funding and resources, along with participants on our panels.
Registration is FREE for all UCSB graduate students, postdocs, and Master's/PhD alumni who have graduated within the past 5 years. To join, please register for the overall conference, after which you may register for specific panels and workshops linked on the main Shoreline page.
