Impostââer Syndrome and Finding âYour Authentic Voice

In this interactive discussion, Linda will lead a dialogue about imposter syndrome: what it is, why it is important to understand and address, and the many ways in which it affects us. From perfectionism and self-worth, to leadership ability and pay equity, we'll discuss the implications of both internal and external stressors and ways in which we can access our authentic voice.

Linda le Brock joined the Business Times in January 2011 as a Publisher of the Pacific Coast Business Times, the weekly award-winning business journal for the Central Coast of California. Previously, she was Vice President of Development at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oxnard and Port Hueneme and an advertising executive at the Business Times 2004-2006. She is on the boards for CLU's Center for Economic Growth Research and Forecasting, Partners in Education, the American Red Cross, Santa Barbara Chamber of Commerce and on the Advisory Counsel of Business Giving Roundtable. She is also co-founder of the women's leadership organization and conference Visionary Women. Le Brock is the recipient of an American Advertising Awards (ADDY) for social media, the advertising industry's largest and most representative competition.

Kirsten Leute worked at Stanford University's Office of Technology Licensing for almost nineteen yearsâ, her last position as an Associate Director of the office. At OTL, she handled a diverse caseload of biotechnology and high technology inventions. She worked with dozens of startups during her tenure. Her time at OTL included a year as a technology manager at the Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum (German Cancer Research Center) in Heidelberg, Germany. Kirsten is currently Vice President for Membership Development, Western Hemisphere, for the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM) and was Vice President for Communications of AUTM in 2007-2008. Previously she was an editor of the AUTM Journal and the AUTM Newsletter. In 2012, she was Co-Chair of membership for Women in Bio, San Francisco Bay Area, and she is a past board member of WiLBA (Women in Licensing Bay Area). An active speaker, Kirsten has presented to audiences at BIO, LES, WIPO, ProTon, AUTM, and other meetings around the world. She published articles on technology transfer in the Journal of Commercial Biotechnology, Community Genetics, and Medical Innovation and Business and co-wrote a chapter on bringing university technology to the private sector in The Creative Enterprise. Kirsten holds a Bachelor's degree in biology from Wellesley College and MBA from Santa Clara University concentrating in international business and management of technology and innovation, and is a registered U.S. Patent Agent as well.
Starting a Company Successfully
With Dr. Milton Chang (Entrepreneur)
Key ingredients for a successful startup are the business idea, founder's drive and ability, and adequate financial resources. The speaker will discuss practical ways and prescribe a career roadmap for a young person to succeed in entrepreneurship without taking undue risks.

Milton Chang is a serial entrepreneur and angel investor. He successfully built Newport and New Focus to IPO and also participated in incubating Aurrion, a local startup born âââat UCSB. He is an engineer graduated from the University of Illinois and Caltech and is currently a Trustee of Caltech.
