Baron welcome post real

The Graduate Division is excited to announce a new addition to the Graduate Student Resource Center! Baron Haber, the new Assistant Director of Professional Development, joins Graduate Division after receiving his PhD from UCSB's English Department in 2020. Baron is excited to join the GSRC team and work with UCSB's diverse graduate student population.

HIS STORY

After growing up around the American West, I received my BA in English from Whitman College, then worked for Americorps in Seattle, Washington after graduation. Pursing my passions for creative writing, literary study, and teaching, I received my MFA from the University of Illinois, and then returned to the west coast to get my MA and PhD in English Literature from UCSB.

FUN FACTS

When I'm not at the GSRC, you may find me running or biking across Santa Barbara, walking my dogs, planning my newest Dungeons and Dragons campaign, or at the park chasing after my three-year-old!

HIS ROLE AS ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

I am elated to join with the rest of the GSRC staff to support graduate students with helpful resources, close mentorship, and innovative programming. I look forward to working with our graduate peer advisors and supporting events like Grad Slam, the Beyond Academia conference, and new student orientation. I am here to help!
