The Otis Williams Fund at the Santa Barbara Foundation will provide two years of support for post-doctoral research training at the interface of biology and engineering. The Thomas Jefferson Fund is awarding $20,000 for multidisciplinary research projects related to Humanities and Social Sciences (SSH), Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) or Science for Society (interdisciplinary STEM-SSH projects). The deadline is March 12, 2018.

The Lasker Foundation is seeking essays of 800 words or less on the following topic: How can social media help build trust in science and the research enterprise? They invite scientists and clinicians to share their perspective on biology and medicine today, and the role of biomedical research in our society through this challenge. The Data Science Fellows Program offers students paid in-residence opportunities at the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis (NCEAS) to work closely with data and informatics teams to solve data, analysis, and software issues relating to environmental science. The L’Oréal USA For Women in Science fellowship program honors female scientists at a critical stage in their careers with grants of $60,000 each. Application deadline is February 2, 2018.
