The Switzer Environmental Fellowship offers one-year Fellowships to graduate students in New England and California whose studies and career goals are directed toward environmental improvement and who clearly demonstrate leadership in their field. The deadline to apply is January 7, 2019.

If you are on a project supported by NSF and would like additional funding for non-academic internships, talk to your Faculty PI about submitting a proposal for up to $55,000. The funding could support up to 6 months of a non-academic internship or other professional development training relevant to your work. The deadline for submission is May 1, 2019.

Blakemore Freeman Fellowships are awarded for one academic year of advanced level language study in East or Southeast Asia. Candidates pursuing careers in fields such as academia, STEM, international business, accounting, law, medicine, journalism, architecture, teaching, social or NGO work, and government service are encouraged to apply. Deadline is December 30, 2018.

The Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation (IGCC) will award up to ten regular dissertation fellowships and one specially designated Herb York IGCC Fellowship for the 2019–2020 academic year. Fellowships are $25,000. US citizenship is NOT required. Application deadline is December 20, 2018.

NOAA's Dr. Nancy Foster Scholarship Program provides support for independent graduate-level studies in oceanography, marine biology, or maritime archaeology (including all science, engineering, social science and resource management of ocean and coastal areas), particularly to women and minorities. The deadline is December 17, 2018.

The University of California Institute for Mexico and the United States (UC MEXUS) offers a monthly competition for support of University of California graduate student and postdoctoral researcher activities in all disciplines as related to academic exchange, research training, and scholarly development in areas of interest to UC MEXUS. The next deadline is December 3, 2018.

The Chateaubriand Fellowship is a grant offered by the Embassy of France in the United States. It supports outstanding Ph.D. students from American universities who wish to conduct research in France for a period ranging from 4 to 9 months. Chateaubriand fellows receive a stipend, a round trip ticket to France, and health insurance. Apply today! Deadline is January 9, 2018.

The Hanna H. Gray Fellows Program seeks to increase diversity in biomedical science by recruiting and retaining individuals from groups underrepresented in the life sciences. The program will support early career scientists with the potential to become leaders in academic research. Deadline to apply is January 9, 2018.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Summer Research Team (SRT) Program seeks to engage faculty led teams of undergraduate and graduate students in research that provides opportunities to strengthen the talent pool of scientists and engineers, and to conduct collaborative research of mutual interest to the Team, the DHS Center, and DHS. The deadline to apply is Dec. 21, 2018.

The Mickey Leland Energy Fellowship (MLEF) Program provides students with fellowship opportunities to gain hands-on research experience with the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Fossil Energy. The program was created with the goal of improving opportunities for under-represented students in STEM fields; however, all eligible candidates are encouraged to apply. Application deadline is December 17, 2018.

The Howard Mayer Brown Fellowship in musicology supports one year of graduate work for a student at a U.S. or Canadian university who is a member of a historically underrepresented group with a stipend of $22,000 for full-time study. The deadline to apply is December 17, 2018.

The Center for Engaged Scholarship (CES) advances progressive values such as greater equality within and across nations, more effective democratic governance, and more enlightened environmental policies. CES is planning to award at least five fellowships of $25,000 each for the 2019-2020 academic year. Apply by December 15, 2018.

The Schlanger Ocean Drilling Fellowship Program offers merit-based awards of $30,000 for a 12-month period to outstanding graduate students conducting research in ocean discovery. The Fellowship year begins in either June or August (summer or fall semester). Deadline to apply is December 7, 2018.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) 16th Annual P3 Awards focusing on People, Prosperity, and the Planet (P3) is a collegiate design competition promoting the use of scientific and engineering principles in creating innovative projects to address environmental challenges and develop real-world solutions. The two-phase competition offers $25,000 for initial project ideas and $100,000 implementation project awards. The deadline to apply is December 11, 2018.

The National Science Foundation (NSF) Directorate for Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences (SBE) Postdoctoral Fellowship offers research, training, and other educational opportunities for postdoctoral fellows. The deadline to apply is November 20, 2018.

The 21st Century Global Dynamics Fellowships provide one academic quarter of in-state tuition/fees plus a stipend of $7,500 to PhD students in the humanities and social sciences wishing to conduct research in Global Studies or Gender and Islam. With mentorship from a Mellichamp Professor, the candidate will have research support and duties related to the professor's projects in the specified area of interest. The deadline to apply is November 21.

The RAND Graduate Student Summer Associate Program offers paid 12-week summer opportunities for graduate students to conduct research on a wide range of national security problems and domestic and international social policy issues. The deadline to apply is December 4, 2018.

The AccessLex Institute/AIR Research and Dissertation Fellows Program is a grant competition promoting scholarship on issues related to access, affordability and value of legal education specifically, and graduate and professional education more broadly. Research grants of up $50,000 and dissertation grants of up to $25,000 are available. Deadline to apply is November 30, 2018.

The Graham Foundation offers two Carter Manny Awards: a research award for a student at the research stage of the doctoral dissertation and a writing award for a student at the writing stage of the doctoral dissertation. The research award is acknowledged with up to $15,000 and the writing award is acknowledged with up to $20,000. The deadline to apply is November 15, 2018, for 2019-2020 funding.
