The Terraton Challenge is a call for solutions that accelerate the drawdown of 1 trillion tons of atmospheric carbon dioxide into agricultural soils. Any team or individual with an original solution to climate change involving agriculture is welcome to apply. Up to $3,500 may be awarded simply for submitting an idea. This could lead to $60k in grants, and up to $3M in contracts. Applications are due October 1st.

The two-year Kress Foundation History of Art Institutional Fellowship program provides young art historians, conservators, and curators with crucial training and resources for studying the history of European art at six renowned research centers. The Academy Scholars Program supports young scholars (PhD candidates & Post-Docs) whose work combines research in the social sciences or law with a command of the language and history or culture of regions outside of the United States or Canada. The fellowship includes two years of research in residence at Harvard University. Apply by Oct. 1, 2019!

The Franco-American Fulbright Commission is accepting applications from scholars with PhDs for research projects in three regions of France: Grand Est, Nouvelle Aquitaine, and Hautes de France. While research projects in all disciplines are welcomed, the universities and research centers in these areas primarily focus on the hard and social sciences. The deadline is September 16, 2019.

If you have completed your degree and are looking for a grant to finance a summer research project in the humanities, the NEH Summer Stipend is a great resource. Summer Stipends (max $6,000) support continuous full-time work on a humanities project for a period of two consecutive months. Applications are due by Sept. 25, 2019.

The Harry S. Truman Library Institute offers research grants of up to $2,500 to offset the cost of conducting research at their library and museum. Competitive proposals will demonstrate a clear understanding of the existing research on Truman’s presidency and legacy and how the proposed work contributes to the field. The Fall application deadline is Oct. 1, 2019.

The Christine Mirzayan Science and Technology Policy Graduate Fellowship Program is a paid 12 week program at the National Academies in Washington, DC. that teaches the essential skills and knowledge needed to work in science and technology policy at the federal, state, or local levels. The Academic Senate is now accepting applications for the 2019-20 Doctoral Student Travel Grant. The grants are awarded to eligible students on a first-come, first-served basis each fiscal year. Applicants must be doctoral students and have advanced to candidacy, or if Master of Fine Arts students, must be in their second year and be in candidacy prior to travel. Read on for details!

The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) provides early-career and senior scientists the opportunity to share in NASA's mission, to reach for new heights and reveal the unknown so that what we do and learn will benefit all humankind. Postdoctoral Fellows work on 1- to 3-year assignments with NASA scientists and engineers at NASA centers and institutes. The next NPP deadline is July 1, 2019.
