Under the American Rescue Plan (ARP), which established and funds the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III (HEERF III), the Department of Education directs institutions to use this federal funding to provide direct emergency financial grants to students with exceptional need, supporting expenses related to any component of their cost of attendance, including: tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health), and child care, or for emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus.
