OVERVIEW
The Henry Luce Foundation supports doctoral students traveling in China to conduct predoctoral research for 3-4 months and postdoctoral scholars who will spend up to 1 year researching in China so they may write a scholarly text in English. In conjunction with the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS), the fellowship supports scholars in preparing their PhD dissertation research for publication or in embarking on new research projects in China.

DEADLINE
November 6, 2019.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Applicants who are not U.S. or Canadian citizens must have an affiliation with a university or college in the U.S. or Canada.
  • PhD student applicants must be enrolled in a PhD program at a university in the United States or Canada.
  • Postdoctoral applicants must hold a PhD from an institution in the United States or Canada or be a US or Canadian citizen with a PhD from any institution. Must have a working knowledge of Chinese. The PhD degree must be completed by application deadline. An applicant must hold a PhD degree conferred no more than 8 years ago.

AWARD
Predoctoral Dissertation Research: $5,000.
Postdoctoral Research: stipend up to $50,000.
