The Coastal Fund (CF) was created and is funded by the students at the University of California, Santa Barbara in order to preserve and enhance the ecological integrity of the coastal habitats at the University. The CF seeks to provide the financial impetus for research, restoration, preservation, access and educational projects.

Applicants may submit more than one proposal per grant cycle and may have more than one grant active at once provided that each is a distinct and separate project.

The Coastal Fund has three funding cycles (Fall, Winter, Spring) each year for both major and minor funding applications. Applications are due electronically to by midnight on the stated deadline.

Fall deadlines
Major Application due date: October 11, 2019
Minor Application due date: November 15, 2019

Coastal Fund grant applications must be submitted in connection with a UCSB affiliated department, registered nonprofit, or government agency. Unaffiliated individuals cannot apply for funding.

Major funding applications should be proposals seeking more than $1,000, and Minor funding applications under $1,000. Although there is not a limit on the amount of funding an applicant may request, applicants should note that we typically allocate $110,000 amongst 15-20 projects each quarter.
