Fulbright Regional Postdoctoral Research Grants in France

The Franco-American Fulbright Commission is accepting applications from scholars with PhDs for research projects in three regions of France: Grand Est, Nouvelle Aquitaine, and Hautes de France. While research projects in all disciplines are welcomed, the universities and research centers in these areas primarily focus on the hard and social sciences. Please see details on regional specializations below. Grant periods may range from 3 to 12 months. These regional awards include a monthly stipend, travel allowance, and visa fee waiver.

Grand Est:
The region welcomes candidates in all disciplines, particularly in the fields in which the region is especially strong: new generation materials and technologies (advanced manufacturing, machines and equipment), bio-economy and bio-refinery, health tech (biotechnology, e-health, health materials, silver economy), sustainable buildings, sustainable transportation systems, water technologies, IT solutions (cybersecurity, smart cities and agriculture), clean and renewable energy (photovoltaic, wind, hydrogen, methanization), and manufacturing (forging, casting, wood construction).

Nouvelle Aquitaine:
Nouvelle-Aquitaine welcomes candidates in all fields, preferably in the following areas in which the regional research teams are especially strong: analytical chemistry, materials chemistry, green/sustainable chemistry, subsoil energy, photonics, biomedical research and technology, environmental sciences, information sciences, archaeology, economics and management, materials physics, and aeronautics.

Hautes de France:
The Hauts-de-France region welcomes candidates in the hard and social sciences as well as the humanities, including Planet, Health and Intelligence issues. The priority areas for the region are multidisciplinary projects including humanities and involving crosscutting fields in the following : Biology and Health; Food; Physics, Chemistry and Materials sciences; Math and Computer science; Energy, Transport (rail and new cars); Digital, Image and Cognitive science.

Scholars at all levels who have received their PhD (or other terminal degree).

€2,400-€2,800 per month depending on the city of placement. All research scholars receive a travel allowance of €1,200. Visa fees will be waived for Fulbright grantees and their accompanying dependents.
