The Coordinating Council for Women in History is soliciting for submissions to their annual awards and prizes. Below is a list and description of the prizes and awards available.

CCWH Nupur Chaudhuri First Article Award 2017

This award supports junior scholars affiliated with institutions from all ranks and active in all fields of history. This annual $1000 prize recognizes the best first article published in the field of history by a CCWH member during the previous two years. It is named to honor Nupur Chaudhuri, long-time CCWH board member, former executive director and co-president from 1995-1998, a scholar deeply committed to mentoring and enfranchising other women, and concretely helping them to succeed in any field within the discipline of history. CCWH/Berks Graduate Student Fellowship 2017

This fellowship assists graduate students completing a dissertation in a History Department. This $1000 fellowship can be used to support a crucial stage of research or writing. The applicant must be a CCWH member, a graduate student in history in a U.S. institution of any rank; must have passed to A.B.D. status by the time of application; may specialize in any field of history; may hold this award and others simultaneously; and need not attend the award ceremony to receive the award. CCWH Ida B. Wells Graduate Student Fellowship 2017

This fellowship supports graduate students completing a crucial stage of research and writing. The award is reserved for historical dissertations that interrogate issues of race and gender. The recipient of this $1000 fellowship must be a CCWH member; must be a graduate student in any department of a U.S. institution; must have passed to A.B.D. status by the time of application; may hold this award and others simultaneously; and need not attend the award ceremony to receive the award. CCWH Catherine Prelinger Memorial Award 2017

This $20,000 award provides support to a scholar, with a Ph.D. or near candidacy, who has not followed a traditional academic path of uninterrupted and completed secondary, undergraduate, and graduate degrees leading to a tenure-track faculty position. The award is intended to recognize or to enhance the ability of the recipient to contribute significantly to women in history, whether in the profession in the present or in the study of women in the past. It is not intended that there be any significant restrictions placed on how a given recipient shall spend the award as long as it advances the recipient's scholarship goals and purposes. All recipients will be required to submit a final paper to CCWH on how the award was expended and summarizing the scholarly work completed. The deadline for the award is May 15, 2017.
