Submissions are open for the tenth annual "Art of Science" competition. The Art of Science initiative invites current UCSB undergraduates, graduate students, and postdocs to tell the story of their research through the aesthetic. Submissions due April 16.
The Schuller Lab, the Center for Science and Engineering Partnerships, the College of Creative Studies, and the UCSB Library are excited to announce the tenth annual "Art of Science" competition. The submission deadline has been extended to April 16!
In science, as in art, the practitioner pursues moments of discovery when observations become greater than the sum of their parts and begin to reveal an untold story. Join in an event to capture the imagination, challenge beliefs and expectations, and share the beauty and meaning of science through illustrative photographs, images, and data stories from your research.
The Art of Science initiative invites current UCSB undergraduates, graduate students, and postdocs to tell the story of their research through the aesthetic. Whether it be striking spectroscopic images of a new material, data from a series of simulations, interesting photos of a device or instrument, visual data stories, or some other aspect of research captured visually, you are invited to share.
Winning pieces go on display at the UCSB Library and other community galleries such as the Santa Barbara Museum of Art and the MOXI. The competition organizers look forward once again to these works of art sharing the creativity and joy of discovery with the community.
Prizes are awarded for First, Second, and Third Place, in addition to Best Caption, Best Data Visualization, and a People's Choice Award. Submissions are due by Friday, April 16.
