You have until May 11 to sign up to participate in this year's commencement!

In an April 23 memo, Chancellor Henry T. Yang announced plans for UCSB's annual Commencement, including the exciting news that Oprah Winfrey will be the keynote speaker for the June 12 special, live-streamed, online event. Students, including graduate students, can upload a photo to personalize their graduation slide to be featured in the online ceremony.

In addition, Chancellor Yang invited all graduating students, including graduate students, to participate in person in the 2021 Grad Walk, which will take place during the week of June 7. Grad Walk will allow graduating students to take part in a graduation processional that includes having their names announced as they cross a stage and taking photographs with the campus lagoon as the backdrop. Students participating in GradWalk will be allowed two guests. Doctoral students can include their faculty advisor as a guest, however, guests are not allowed to participate in the walk across the stage with the graduate. The event will be live-streamed so parents, guardians, families, and friends can share in the celebration, virtually.

You are invited to participate in either (or both) ceremony, but you must confirm your participation on MarchingOrder using your @ucsb email address. The last day to schedule your participation is Monday, May 11, 2021, at midnight Pacific time. Graduates may elect to participate in one, both, or neither ceremony option.
