The Higher Education Act (HEA) is the primary law governing post-secondary education, including federal student aid programs. UC appreciates the support the federal government provides students and families through the HEA and looks forward to working with Congress throughout the reauthorization process.

UC has developed materials to assist with advocacy efforts regarding the reauthorization of HEA. As the Higher Education Act (HEA) reauthorization process continues, the University of California wants to share materials recently added to the HEA advocacy toolkit. The new content includes a social media guide (focused on the new PROSPER Act) as well as social media assets that can be used more broadly. These materials are available to download via the toolkit online.

Should there be movement on the PROSPER Act, the UC wants to ensure UC students, faculty, and stuff have the tools necessary to advocate and mobilize advocates, and they hope these social media materials will aid in that process.

In addition, one new feature to highlight with the UC Advocacy Network (UCAN) campaign is that there is now a text feature so that new and existing advocates can text "UC HEA" to 52886 and they'll receive a link to the campaign on their phone. The UCSB-specific URL for the campaign is http://actnow.io/UCSBHEA.
