Join for the 2018 Latin American and Iberian Studies conference, Queer Hemisphere: América Cuir. Scholars, activists, and performers from Mexico, Brazil, Peru, other Andean countries, as well as Latinx communities in the US, are coming together to discuss the challenges of studying gender and sexuality in the Americas, under the current threat of racist populism, state violence, and new forms of mobilization. This two-day conference includes keynote presentations by Prof. Sayak Valencia (author of Capitalismo Gore) and artist Lorena Wolffer (Mapping Dissent). Additionally, there will be six interdisciplinary graduate student panels, a welcome address with Prof. Marcia Ochoa (UCSC), and a charla with UCSB Professor Cherríe Moraga (English Department) and Prof. Micaela Díaz-Sánchez (Chicano Studies). See flyer below for more detail. For more information, click HERE and RSVP on their Facebook page.
