Brazilian artist Lino Arruda will lead a two-day zine-making workshop on February 7 and 8, with the goal of representing Trans* and Queer narratives situated in the banal details of daily life.

Zines are self-published, small-run publications that often address topics not covered in mainstream media or that look at conventional issues and topics from a unique point-of-view. Arruda will help students cultivate their self-representations through attention to memory crafting and storytelling in a two-day workshop, February 7 from 1 to 4 p.m. and February 8 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Multicultural Center Lounge. Pieces produced at the workshop look to situate Trans* and Queer experiences in activities like taking the bus or cooking a meal.

The event is sponsored by the Department of Feminist Studies, the Division of Student Affairs, and the Resource Center for Sexual & Gender Diversity.
