UCSB’s Women of Color Circle will host the "Survived and Punished Teach-In," which will address the criminalization of black girls and womxn and girls and womxn of color who have experienced domestic and sexual violence, part of the larger prison pipeline problem.
UCSB's Women of Color Circle will host the "Survived and Punished Teach-In" in the Graduate Student Association lounge on Thursday, February 2, from 6-8 p.m.
The teach-in will address the criminalization of black girls and womxn and girls and womxn of color who have experienced domestic and sexual violence, part of the larger prison pipeline problem. Facilitators Amoni Thompson, Bella Restrepo, and Kim Soriano will address and uplift the stories of Bresha Meadows, Tondalao Hall, Marissa Alexander, Cece McDonald, and others who have been criminalized for responding to their own abuse.
