This session will cover types of awards, the components of a Fulbright application, tips for putting together the best Fulbright application possible, and the campus review process.

Fulbright is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government and is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. The Fulbright U.S. Student Program is open to students who have earned a Bachelor's degree but not yet earned a doctorate. Applicants must be citizens or nationals of the United States at the time of application; permanent residents are not eligible. (See the website for more information on eligibility.)

Fulbright Information Session for Minority Serving Institutions

Tuesday, April 27, 2021 from 1-2:30 p.m. Pacific

Students from multiple institutions will be present, and the general flow of the session will be as follows:

  • Fulbright Staff and Alumni Ambassadors will present general information about the program's history, eligibility, award types, award benefits and application components and tips.
  • After the general presentation, student participants will be sorted into breakout rooms by institution where UCSB Fulbright Program Advisors Shawn Warner and Hannah Lawrence will cover institution-specific details such as campus resources, deadlines, and next steps.

The Fulbright competition is now open, and the national deadline is October 12, 2021, at 2 p.m. Pacific time. UCSB's campus deadline is Wednesday, August 25, 2021. If you are applying in this year's cycle, please make sure to review the Fulbright page carefully, including the UC Santa Barbara Fulbright Program Information Sheet.
