Supporting Distressed Students
Facilitator: Jenny Sperling, TA Pedagogical Advisor
Students encounter a large amount of stress for a variety of reasons throughout their college journey. Academic demands, work-related concerns, financial worries, and family/relationship scenarios are only a few sources of stress that many of our students face and cope with daily. As TAs, you might encounter students who are in need of your support and care, and it is important to be prepared. In this workshop we will discuss the ways in which you might provide assistance to students experiencing any levels of distress. We will briefly revisit our own campus resources and protocol, but will center our conversations around effective strategies to care for your students in a way that acknowledges who they are, their emotions, and what they are experiencing.

When: Monday, May 13
Time: 11am-12pm
Where: Kerr Hall 1128
