Are you looking for experience in project management outside the university? Are you thinking about a career in industry?

The PIPELINES program (Problem-based Initiatives for Powerful Engagement and Learning In Naval Engineering and Science) employs UCSB graduate students as mentors to teams of undergraduate & community college STEM students working with Naval-based research projects. These teams work on projects from the Port Hueneme and Point Mugu Naval commands-NAVFAC, NAVSEA, NAVAIR.

As the UCSB Mentor for the team you will:

  • Collaborate with a Naval Researcher on the project design
  • Identify areas of need and support the academic growth of interns
  • Meet regularly with interns during the 8-week program (Fridays)
  • Engage UCSB faculty, staff, institutes with intern project
  • Support scientific communication -oral presentations, design challenges, poster session.

Projects are all in Engineering -- Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, Computer & Computer Science.

All UCSB graduate student mentors that participate will earn $800.

Must be a US citizen or permanent resident.
