Introduction to Geospatial Raster and Vector Data with R (online)

April 7 and 8, 2022 3:30 pm - 6:30 pm | Workshop page and registration

Introduction to Geospatial Raster and Vector Data with R (in-person)

April 11 and 13, 2022 9:30 am - 12:30 pm | Workshop page and registration

One workshop runs online, and one workshop is hosted in-person. These events are two-day, example-driven workshops for an introduction to using geospatial data in R. R is commonly used to perform spatial analysis and to generate map graphics in many scientific disciplines. Both workshops will focus on visualizing the two basic geospatial data types using sample data from NSF NEON. These workshops will move at a quicker pace than our typical Carpentry workshops.

Introduction to OpenRefine

April 14, 2022 2:00 pm - 6:30 pm | Workshop page and registration

This event is an online, one-day, example-driven workshop for an introduction to using OpenRefine. OpenRefine is an open-source tool that runs inside of a web browser. It is used for working with messy tabular data and is applicable to all sorts of practical challenges that data scientists face regularly. There is no prior programming knowledge required.

Intro to Data Analysis and Visualization in Python

April 19 and 21, 2022 9:30 am - 12:30 pm | Workshop page and registration

This event is an online, two-day, example-driven workshop for an introduction to programming in Python for people with little or no previous programming experience. The workshop will start on how to use the Jupyter notebook interface through JupyterLabs. The workshop will then go over with the basics of Python syntax and work up to basic plotting/data visualizations. We will work with the Pandas and Plotnine packages going over data frames and plotting.
