UCSB Early Childhood Care & Education Services is seeking a graduate student intern to work as a Special Projects Coordinator. The position will work on the Undergraduate Teaching Assistant Program, the Enrichment Program, and on other special projects. The position pays $18.00 per hour for up to 20 hours per week.

General Summary of Duties/Responsibilities

Under the direction of the UC Santa Barbara Early Childhood Care & Education Services (ECCES) Director, the Special Projects Coordinator is an integral part of the Children's Centers and provides essential support to the Administrative team in assisting university students' engagement and involvement with the Children's Centers. The Special Projects Coordinator will focus on enrichment collaborations and initiatives that support the children and families of the Children's Centers. The Special Projects Coordinator will work closely with the Program Coordinators to develop and implement new and existing enrichment partnerships and collaborations with a variety of university departments to enhance the curriculum within the Children's Centers.

In addition, the Special Projects Coordinator will work closely with the Program Coordinators to revamp the Teaching Assistant and Peer Mentor Program. The Coordinator will analyze the current program and then design, implement and evaluate the revised Teaching Assistant and Peer Mentor Program.

The Special Projects Coordinator will assist the Director of ECCES in other matters as identified and assigned to bridge and help university students to create smooth transitions and help for student families. They will be thoroughly committed to ECCES's mission and should have an interest and general understanding of early childhood care and education. The Special Projects Coordinator will execute special strategic projects related to the daily operations and programming of the Children's Centers.

Essential Duties

Enrichment Partnerships and Collaboration (30% of time)
Work with undergraduate and graduate students, as well as faculty, to develop and design education partnerships that enhance curriculum for young children. Oversee the daily implementation and coordination of the enrichment programs for the classrooms. Work closely with the Program Coordinators and Teachers to coordinate and implement activities. Support a consistent pedagogical approach for all student partnerships and classrooms. Address any COVID related needs of children and families, and assist in the coordination of connecting services and programs of support to student families.

Student Teaching Assistant and Peer Mentor Program (40% of time)
The Special Projects Coordinator will also be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the design, development and implementation of the ECCES Teaching Assistant Program. The Coordinator plays a key role in planning and bridging operational strategies to support student employees. In addition, the Coordinator develops program designs and tools for the Teaching Assistant Peer Mentor Program. Assist peer mentors, teaching staff and administration in understanding student needs and participate in relevant strategic thinking and program implementation.

Special Projects (Other) (30% of time)
Provide assistance to the Administrative Team and the ECCES Director on an ongoing basis for as-needed projects and achieve the goals associated with them. Provide oversight of a broad range of initiatives to assist students and student families on behalf of the Director and Program Coordinators. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director. Promote a supportive and inclusive environment that supports the mission of the University and reflects the diverse population served by the Children's Centers.
