Are you looking for experience in project management outside the university? Are you thinking about a career in industry?

The PIPELINES program employs UCSB Science and Engineering graduate students as mentors to teams of undergraduate & community college STEM students working with Naval-based research projects. These teams work on projects from the Port Hueneme and Point Mugu Naval commands-NAVFAC, NAVSEA, NAVAIR.

As the UCSB Mentor for a team, you will:

  1. Collaborate with a Naval Researcher on the project design

  2. Identify areas of need and support the academic growth of interns

  3. Meet regularly with interns during the 8-week program

  4. Engage UCSB faculty, staff, institutes with intern project

  5. Support scientific communication -oral presentations, design challenges, poster session.

All UCSB graduate student mentors that participate will earn $800.
