Job Description:

Santa Barbara Office of Undergraduate Education is seeking a graduate student assistant to provide logistical and technological support in order to develop a new online course, INT W120: Transferring to the Research University. Tasks performed by the graduate student assistant will include scheduling times that work best for guest lecturers to have their mini lectures recorded in the studio by Instructional Development or by the instructor via zoom. The graduate student will work closely with the instructor to create an uncluttered and user-friendly GauchoSpace course site. Developing the site will require drawing on and incorporating GauchoSpace specific feedback received from UCSB students who responded to the Remote Learning Survey, which was administered in Spring 2020. Lastly, the graduate student will provide logistical support in preparing the mid-term evaluation of the course and the ESCI evaluation of the course, ensure readings are converted into pdf format and uploaded to GauchoSpace, and perform additional administrative tasks that will aid in the development of the course.

Skills/Experience Required

  • Detail oriented
  • Excellent email communication skills
  • Familiarity with managing GauchoSpace pages
  • Online teaching knowledge or experience
  • UCSB TA experience preferred

Salary

  • $25 per hour
  • Does not include fee remission or GSHIP

Time Commitment

10 hours a week

March 29 - June 4, 2021 (Spring quarter 2021)
