The University of California Washington Program (UCDC) invites applications for the Spring 2020 Presidential Graduate Opportunities for Leadership and Development (GOLD) Fellowship. One graduate student will be selected for each quarter or semester (depending on the campus) to be in-residence in Washington, DC to conduct research on key national public policy issues and to assist in providing professional development training in the form of writing assistance to UC undergraduate students. GOLD Fellows will be enrolled in independent study at UCDC. In addition, at the end of the term, the fellow will give a lunchtime presentation of the research they conduct in DC. The presentation should be accessible to UCDC undergraduate students but will be open to UCDC staff and faculty as well as Federal Governmental Relations staff.

Requirements
Applicants must be ABD in their graduate work. Have a qualifying GPA (determined by their campus). Have research interests in public policy/public service. Teaching experience (specific writing instruction experience is a plus)

Expectations
As a TA, the GOLD fellow will be responsible for working 16-20 hours per week, including evening office hours for undergraduate writing assistance.Additional responsibilities may include, among other tasks, proctoring exams and guest lecturing or otherwise covering class in support of UCDC faculty and academic staff. TA salary will be commensurate with the candidate's campus TA salary.

Benefits
The successful candidate will receive an appointment as a Teaching Assistant (TA) at 50% time (to include payment of California resident tuition and student fees) and an apartment at the UCDC Center will be provided at no cost.

4. Abstract of dissertation
5. Copy of your transcript with current GPA.
6. Two (2) faculty letters of recommendation are required; one must be from your dissertation advisor.
