Graduate Student Resource Center Events
Offering career and professional development programming for all of UCSB’s graduate student and postdoc populations, the GSRC hosts over 100 events and workshops ever year in addition to providing one-on-one advising services.

Career Services
Career Services is a key resource and trusted ally to UCSB graduate students. As career development is their area of expertise, they work closely with PhD and masters students in successfully navigating and achieving their career aspirations.

UCSB Beyond Academia
The Beyond Academia conference at UC Santa Barbara is an annual event aimed at preparing graduate students and postdoctoral researchers in all stages and disciplines to pursue a wide range of career options after graduate school. The conference offers attendees the opportunity to interact with professionals who have established careers outside the professoriate in industry, government, administration, nonprofits, and more.

Center for Science and Engineering Partnerships (CSEP)
Professional development seminars and workshops for graduate students in STEM fields. For more information, contact Arica Lubin (CSEP’s Graduate Program Coordinator).

Individualized Professional Skills Grant Program
The UCSB Individualized Professional Skills (IPS) Program is designed to help graduate students and postdoctoral scholars fill in the funding gaps for pursuing opportunities that support your professional development in a variety of career trajectories. Awards up to $1000 will be granted to eligible graduate students and postdoctoral scholars who wish to individually tailor their career paths with outside professional development opportunities.

Graduate Student Internship Fellowship
The purpose of the UCSB Graduate Student Internship Fellowship is to assist graduate students with attaining experience related to career goals and professional development. Every year, four to five students are selected to receive awards of between $2,000-2,500 to help offset the financial impact of accepting unpaid or low-paying internship opportunities.

Grad Teach Forum for Campus Employment Opportunities
The GradTeach forum, located on Google Groups, connects graduate students seeking student academic employment with departments in need of additional support. You are encouraged to subscribe to this group with your UCSB email address in order to receive updates about open positions sent directly to your inbox. However, even without subscribing, you can view the listings.

National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity
Through UCSB’s institutional membership, graduate students and postdocs get access to free professional development and pedagogical resources including webinars, readings, and discussion forums.

Versatile PhD
The largest online community dedicated to non-academic and non-faculty careers for PhDs in humanities, social sciences, and STEM. With UCSB’s institutional subscription, you gain access to premium content such as career transition portfolios, active members-only discussion boards, and online and in-person networking resources. To sign up, visit the Versatile PhD website and enter UCSB as your institutional affiliation. The Graduate Division also hosts quarterly informational sessions designed to help scholars become better acquainted with Versatile PhD's resources. Join for free and sign up for their regular newsletter to stay up-to-date on the latest career and professional development information.
Online access to more than 4,000 software, creative, and business skills video tutorials that are taught by industry experts. Available for free to graduate students who are currently employed through the university.

The Chronicle of Higher Education
The leading source of news, information, and jobs for college and university faculty members and administrators. Regular advice articles for graduate students as well as job postings and topic-specific blogs.

Daily online publication focused on college and university topics featuring a career advice section and job postings.

Higher Education Recruitment Consortium (HERC)
Job-placement and recruitment organization for institutions of higher education. In addition to job postings, features job-seeker tools such as webinars, testimonials, and blog.
