The 2021 Grad Slam competition is going virtual!

UCSB's annual competition for the best 3-minute talk by a graduate student launches this year on January 5 and will feature presentations by students explaining the central points of their project in a clear, direct, and interesting manner for a general audience.

This year, Grad Slam talks will be pre-recorded and judged asynchronously in two different rounds: a Qualifying Round and a Final Round. Over $16,000 in cash and prizes will be given away (including up to $75 in equipment reimbursement costs for each student who submits a Qualifying Round video), and the Final Round will feature a livestream event on March 8 from 3:30-5pm showcasing finalist video submissions, live Q&A with finalists, and the final results announced.

All currently enrolled graduate students are eligible to compete. More information on the competition rules, training opportunities, and submission guidelines can be found on the 2021 Grad Slam page.

The deadline for Qualifying Round video submissions is Tuesday, February 2. For complete details on the competition timeline, click here.
