The Graduate Division is excited to announce a new addition to the Graduate Student Resource Center! Kate Brody-Adams, the new Assistant Director of Professional Development, is a Santa Barbara native who has worked for the past six years as a Graduate Program Advisor and Clinical Advising Specialist at Fielding Graduate University. Kate is thrilled to be joining the GSRC team and continuing her work with graduate students.

HER STORY

I grew up in Santa Barbara and went to Santa Barbara High School (go Dons!). I studied English at UC Davis and then transferred to UCLA where I graduated with a BA in American Literature and Culture. After living in Boston for a bit, I made the move back to Santa Barbara to pursue my MA in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University. Newly graduated and working as a counseling intern, I was offered a job at Fielding Graduate University as the Graduate Program Advisor for Clinical Psychology Ph.D. students. Providing academic guidance and support in that role over the last six years ignited my passion for helping graduate students reach their educational and professional goals.

FUN FACTS

Outside of work, you'll find me reading a good mystery novel, staying active at the gym, singing Broadway show tunes, watching movies, knitting, and enjoying dinner out with family and friends.

HER ROLE AS ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

I am excited to get involved with the great work happening at the Graduate Student Resource Center and to work closely with the student peer advisors. I look forward to helping coordinate events like Grad Slam and new student orientation, as well as collaborating with other offices to expand services. I can't wait to get to know UCSB's graduate student population and see what I can do to offer support!
