UCSB receives NEH Next Generation Ph.D. Grant


The National Endowment for the Humanities recently announced that ​UCSB is one of 28 institutions to receive a Next Generation PhD Grant to ​help universities rethink how they prepare doctoral students for career paths outside ​the academy.


Applications now open for 2016 Dissertation Write-In


The deadline to apply for this four-day intensive workshop is Monday, July 25. You are eligible to apply if you are a Ph.D. student who has advanced to candidacy, has completed a chapter of your dissertation, and is committed to attending all sessions of the Write-In.


‘Reinvented’ UCSB Library opens

The newly completed work on the UC Santa Barbara Library is more than just a renovation of its outdated buildings. The project is a reinvention. That’s how university officials are describing the state-of-the-art project. Two years of construction have culminated with a festive “Reinventing the Library” grand opening ceremony, featuring speakers, dancers, musicians, a ribbon-cutting, a photo booth, and an open house.
