OVERVIEW

The University of California, Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) have a close-long-standing and strategically important collaborative relationship that offers graduate students unique research, training, and career development opportunities. The UC Laboratory Fees In-Residence Graduate Fellowship provides up to three years of support for PhD candidates who wish to conduct thesis research on-site at LANL or LLNL.

DEADLINES

June 4, 2020 at 12:00pm PST: Deadline for Letter of Intent

Sept. 3, 2020 at 12:00pm PST: Deadline for Full Proposal

AWARD

  • $62,000 per year for two years, with the possibility of an extension for a third year
  • A $5,200 (total) travel allowance to support project-related travel

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must be full-time graduate students enrolled in a doctoral program at one of the 10 UC campuses. Students must be in good academic standing and have advanced to candidacy by the Fellowship start date.

Applicants must commit a minimum 80% time on the proposes research and must be in-residence at least 6 months each Fellowship year at either LANL or LLNL. Funding is limited to research that is unclassified, has no restrictions on publication, and is not restricted by classification or deemed export rules.
