The UCSB Chicano Studies Institute invites applications for funding for graduate students engaged in research addressing topics related to the Latino population in the United States. Awards are for up to $3,000 for a twelve-month period beginning from the date the funds are awarded. The application deadline is May 11, 2018.

OVERVIEW
The UCSB Chicano Studies Institute (CHI) is pleased to issue a call for proposals from graduate students engaged in research on topics pertaining to Chicana/o or Latina/o populations in the United States. Awards are for up to $3,000 for a twelve-month period beginning from the date the funds are awarded. Funding can be used for supplies and other costs associated with research activities, such as interview transcribing, research subject payments, and travel (up to $500 can be requested for research conference travel). Equipment such as computers and cameras, tuition/fees, and insurance cannot be covered by this grant.

ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible, graduate students must be advanced to candidacy, must be within normative time standards, and dissertation proposals must be formally approved by their dissertation committee before the beginning of the award period.
