Program Description

The Carter G. Woodson Institute for African-American & African Studies at the University of Virginia offers a 2-year postdoctoral fellowship to research and teach. The fellowship will be carried out in residence at UVA, located in Charlottesville, Virginia. Fellows will teach 1 course each year in the African-American and African Studies program. The program promotes scholarly exchange and support by encouraging fellows to participate in workshops.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants for the postdoctoral fellowship must have been awarded their Ph.D. by the time of application, or furnish proof that it will have been received 3 months prior to the beginning of the program. Postdoctoral applicants must have been awarded their Ph.D. within the last 5 years. The program is for research and teaching in African-American, African, and Afro-Caribbean Studies.

Citizenship: No citizenship requirements
Award: Annual salary of $47,476 plus full-time benefits
Deadline: December 1
