The Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (CfA) awards an astrophysics postdoc scholar an opportunity to research at various facilities for up to 4 years. CfA invites applications for the CfA Postdoctoral Fellowship 2017, which will be awarded to an outstanding researcher displaying significant promise in theory, observation, instrumentation, and/or laboratory experiments. The CfA combines the resources and research facilities of the Harvard College Observatory and the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory under a single director, located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Young scientist fellows will be supported by facilities all over the world, laboratories, a library system, and access to data on space missions. Fellows will research their own ideas and will also strive to be published in major astronomy journals.

Award and Eligibility: Appointments for 3 years with renewal for a fourth year likely, contingent upon satisfactory progress. The stipend for 2017-2018 will be approximately $67,500 with a research budget of $16,000. Funds are also provided for health benefits and relocation expenses. Applicants must have at least one first-author refereed journal paper (submitted papers are acceptable) at the time of application. Only applicants who receive their Ph.D. between January 1, 2016 and September 1, 2017, will be considered for a CfA Fellowship.
