As a means of increasing the number of U.S. citizens and nationals trained in science and engineering disciplines of military importance, the Department of Defense (DoD) plans to award approximately 180 new three-year graduate fellowships. Deadline is December 9.

As a means of increasing the number of U.S. citizens and nationals trained in science and engineering disciplines of military importance, the Department of Defense (DoD) plans to award approximately 180 new three-year graduate fellowships in April 2017, subject to the availability of funds.

The fellowship is administered by the American Society for Engineering Education. The DoD will offer these fellowships to U.S. citizens and nationals who intend to pursue a doctoral degree for advanced training in science and engineering. NDSEG Fellowships will pay for full tuition and all mandatory fees, a monthly stipend, and up to $1,000 a year in medical insurance.

National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowships are awarded to applicants who will pursue a doctoral degree in, or closely related to, an area of DoD interest within one of the fifteen following disciplines:

  • Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering
  • Biosciences
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Chemistry
  • Civil Engineering
  • Cognitive, Neural, and Behavioral Sciences
  • Computer and Computational Sciences
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Geosciences
  • Materials Science and Engineering
  • Mathematics
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering
  • Oceanography
  • Physics

The application is now open and will close on December 9, 2016, at 5 p.m.
