All Ph.D. students entering the academic job market for 2016-2017 can earn up to $80 (from Amazon.com) to participate in this paid research study from UC Riverside and the Life Events Lab.

Anyone over the age of 18 and on the job market this academic year is eligible to participate. If you would like to participate in this study or would like more information, simply fill out the brief form available at this link: http://ucriverside.az1.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_5jtXRPvs96qznxj

The study involves the following:

1) Eight 15-minute online questionnaires, sent as internet links to your email inbox once a month from mid-to-late September through April. You will be paid $5 for each of these surveys you complete, up to $40 total.

2) Fifteen daily report periods that will occur in five-day blocks during October, January, and April. Each morning of these daily report periods you will complete a brief (1-2 minute) survey. Then throughout the day you will receive text messages that will ask you to provide brief assessments of your current thoughts and feelings (<1 minute each). You will complete one last survey (3-5 minutes) at the end of each day. You will be paid $2 for each day you complete daily surveys, up to $30 total.

3) If both you and your advisor consent, we will ask you to record one-on-one meetings with your primary advisor during the 5-day blocks (i.e., the daily report periods). If you and your advisor meet during those periods and both feel comfortable recording the meeting, the researchers would ask that you record it on a digital recording device of your choosing (e.g., a smartphone). In each day's evening survey, you will be asked if you recorded a meeting that day and if so, prompted to upload the recording via the survey to a Qualtrics' secure server. If you provide at least one recording, you will be paid $10 for that portion of the study.

Your advisor (typically your dissertation chair, but whoever you consider your primary advisor/mentor) will also be invited to participate in the study if you decide to participate. The researchers will contact your advisor with details about his/her participation with your consent.
