The Institute of Current World Affairs awards fellowships for young people who will independently study in foreign countries for at least 2 years. This fellowship program provides individuals with an opportunity to develop a deep understanding of an issue, country, or region outside the U.S.

The Institute of Current World Affairs (ICWA) awards multiple fellowships for young people who will independently study in foreign countries for at least 2 years. This fellowship program, in association with The Crane-Rogers Foundation, provides individuals with an opportunity to develop a deep understanding of an issue, country, or region outside the U.S. ICWA is looking for scholars with topical and important ideas about a foreign country that has some sort of connection to the U.S. Fellows will write monthly newsletters.

The John O. Crane Memorial Fellowship is for fellows in Central and Eastern Europe or the Middle East. The John Miller Musser Memorial Forest & Society Fellowships is for fellows with graduate degrees in forestry or forest-related specialties. The Donors' Fellowship is awarded in any topic of study.

Eligibility: Students completing post-graduate education are welcome to apply, provided that they will be finished with their degree and able to begin their Fellowship within six months of their selection. Candidates must be under 36 years of age at the time of application. Areas of particular interest to the Institute include the Arab Middle East, Southeast Asia, especially Indonesia.
