The Graduate Student Association (GSA) Childcare Grant is now more accessible than ever! Until recently, the grant was only available to graduate student parents in milestone quarters (e.g. finishing your thesis, taking comp exams, etc.), but in Spring 2016, GSA officers voted to widen the language of eligibility to include times where grad students have need that are not milestones (e.g. conference attendance, dissertation workshop, emergency, etc.).

Approved graduate students with single-child households can apply to receive an award of $250; graduate students with more than one child will receive an award of $150 per child. Grants are limited to one award per graduate student household per quarter, with a maximum of five awards allowed during a student's academic tenure at UCSB. In order to qualify, you must be a registered graduate student, able to provide proof of dependents, be enrolled in a degree granting program, and write a memo of need. The need could be for a milestone activity, but could also be for another reason.
