Applications are now being accepted for the Nitrogen Reduction Challenge sponsored by Tulane University. This competition is seeking innovative in-field solutions that will reduce crop fertilizers and runoff, with the goal of combating hypoxia and global "dead zones" in the world's lakes and oceans. The $1 million prize will be awarded to the team that best addresses the challenge of providing an inland solution to these coastal problems. Once teams have registered and submitted a three-page technical abstract, the Challenge Advisory Committee will determine their eligibility for admission to the competition.

Award: $1 million

Eligibility: This competition is open to international applicants. All teams must designate a Team Leader.

Registration deadline: June 30 (including a three-page technical abstract)
